Natyarpana Dance Company brings Indian classical arts to Brookfield and the greater Milwaukee area through Bharatanatyam training, stage performances, and community outreach.
Natyarpana School of Dance
Classical Bharatanatyam training in Brookfield, shaped by discipline, devotion, and a path from first steps to Arangetram.
Four pillars that shape technique, expression, stage presence, and character.
Adavus, footwork, and aramandi form the base of every great dancer.
Storytelling through gesture, face, and deep emotional presence.
Recitals, outreach shows, and the path toward Arangetram debut.
Discipline, confidence, and cultural pride beyond the studio walls.
The Art Form
Classical arts convey ideas and symbolism in a poetic, lyrical, and strongly technical style. As societies evolve, these forms adapt while remaining a shared foundation for music and dance. Many modern styles still draw from classical technique and meaning.
To study classical dance is a privilege that asks for real responsibility.
Beyond Technique
Alongside learning dance itself, students grow abstract virtues that feed many arenas of life. Years of training build both tangible and intangible strengths.
Students conquer stage fright and speak with clarity through lecture demonstrations.
Classical technique becomes a base for fusion forms and deeper musical understanding.
Practice supports health goals while sharpening focus, stamina, and presence.
The process is arduous. The benefits reach far beyond the studio.
Natyarpana grows character beside mastery, so dance becomes a conduit for meaning, healing, and cultural understanding.
Former students have used dance as healing, including volunteering with RASA in India, where the arts support rehabilitation for children with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.
Students learn not only to perform Bharatanatyam, but to grasp its history, poetic nuance, and relationship with dance forms worldwide, including fusion courses such as flamenco and Bharatanatyam co-taught by Guru Kripa Baskaran.
Alumni go on as collegiate dance captains, public speaking champions, teachers, arts therapists, directors, and medical professionals, carrying cultural clarity into every path they choose.
The Journey
Beginners focus on Bharatanatyam technique, foundational footwork, and the structure that repertoire rests on. Discipline is demanded, perfection is pursued, and confidence takes root.
